Doug Smith is the General Manager (GM) of Solutions for Microsoft Canada. In this role, he is responsible for leading a world class team of Microsoft cloud and product technology specialists delivering digital transformation across our enterprise and public-sector customers.

A proven worldwide leader in emerging technology, Doug was previously the GM of Microsoft Azure emerging solutions in the US, Latam, Europe, Middle East and Africa, key elements of the Microsoft Cloud in the Americas and EMEA regions. Prior to, he has led Microsoft’s Digital Marketing Platform Group, accountable for delivering on Microsoft’s digital marketing, e-commerce, and enterprise content management business in the Americas

Doug has also served in several Microsoft regional leadership positions as America’s Southeast Enterprise Sales Leader, U.S East Region Financial Services Leader, and Practice Manager for Microsoft Consulting Services (MCS). His passion and deep technical experience developed through a variety of technical positions as an operating system and TCP/IP network protocol developer in addition to his engineering roles in the US Department of Defense DARPA Project.

Doug holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and currently resides in Toronto with his wife Kathy.
